1. Pre-Dinner (Arrival & Introduction)

  • Time: 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Location: The Grand Gala Hall.

Facilitator’s Script:

  • Welcome Speech:
    • “Good evening, everyone, and welcome to tonight’s Mystery Dinner! We’re thrilled to have you here as our guests, and tonight promises to be an exciting and interactive experience as you work together to solve a mystery. The theme for the evening is Murder at the Grand Gala.
    • The story begins when the host, Reginald Worthington, is found dead under suspicious circumstances. It’s up to you, our esteemed guests, to put together the clues, interrogate the suspects, and uncover the truth. We encourage teamwork, keen observation, and creative thinking tonight. You’ll have a chance to speak with the characters, gather clues, and analyze the evidence. Be sharp, and remember: Not everyone is telling the whole truth.”
  • Assign Roles: Participants are assigned to tables with different teams. Each team will act as a group of detectives, working together to crack the case.

2. Course 1 & First Clue Reveal (Dinner)

  • Time: 6:45 PM – 7:15 PM

Clue Delivery (First Clue):

  • Setting: As dinner is served, the first set of clues is provided. A letter is delivered by the waiter or facilitator to each team.
  • Clue 1 (Letter from Reginald):
    • The letter is found in Reginald’s study and reads:
“Dear Olivia, I have made a decision that will affect us both. The family business is more complicated than you think, and I will not be silenced by anyone anymore. I’ll be having a private conversation with Brock later this evening. Please, don’t let him know you know. I’ll explain everything soon.”
Facilitator Note: As the guests read the letter, they should begin speculating about Reginald’s relationship with his wife Olivia, his business dealings with Brock, and the significance of the private conversation with Brock.

3. Phase 1: The First Interrogation (After Course 1)

  • Time: 7:15 PM – 7:45 PM

Clue Delivery (Interrogation):

  • Facilitator Introduction:
    • “Now, the mystery deepens. You will have the opportunity to interrogate the suspects, who will each share their version of the events leading up to Reginald’s death. Keep your eyes and ears open — some of them might be hiding the truth.”

Suspects’ Scripts (Actors):

  • Olivia Worthington:
    • “Reginald was the love of my life. I don’t know why anyone would want to harm him. But I do know he was acting strange tonight… There were moments when I thought he might be keeping secrets from me. Brock? I don’t trust him. I don’t know what’s going on with their business dealings.”
  • Brock Sullivan:
    • “I’m a businessman. I’m not involved in any foul play. Reginald and I were partners, but we had disagreements — financial ones, of course. But I would never harm him. If you ask me, Olivia had the most to gain from his death. She’s always been a bit too focused on the money.”
  • Samantha Moore:
    • “Reginald was my brother… but I haven’t seen him in years. When I came back to town, I thought we might reconcile, but he was different. Distant. He kept saying that the family was cursed. I think he was afraid of something, but I don’t know what. Maybe it was Brock or Marcus. I don’t trust either of them.”
  • Marcus Devereux:
    • “Reginald was a hard man to work for, but he was good to me. I didn’t know about his family’s dirty secrets. As for Olivia? She’s always seemed so cold. I think she had something to do with this — maybe she pushed Reginald too far.”
  • Detective Evelyn Pierce (facilitator role):
    • “I’ve been hired to investigate Reginald’s death, but I’m not here to point fingers just yet. I’m gathering all the facts, but one thing is certain: Reginald had enemies, and each of them has a reason to want him gone.”

4. Course 2 & The Second Clue Reveal

  • Time: 7:45 PM – 8:00 PM

Clue Delivery (Second Clue):

  • Clue 2 (Photograph of Reginald and Brock):
    • A photograph showing Reginald and Brock at a meeting. In the background, you can see a piece of paper with numbers written on it, possibly related to a business deal.
Facilitator’s Note: The photograph adds tension to the relationship between Reginald and Brock. Teams should start speculating on the nature of their business dealings.

5. Phase 2: New Information and the Second Interrogation

  • Time: 8:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Suspects’ New Scripts (Actors):

  • Olivia Worthington:
    • “I didn’t think Reginald would go through with it. But Brock, he had no limits. I overheard them arguing about some financial deal, and Brock was angry. Maybe that was the final straw.”
  • Brock Sullivan:
    • “You don’t understand. Reginald was being reckless. He was planning to cut me out of the deal we worked so hard on. I might have been angry, but I didn’t kill him. The numbers in that picture? They were from a private project that Reginald and I were working on. It was supposed to be confidential.”

6. The Final Clue & Resolution

  • Time: 8:45 PM – 9:00 PM

Clue Delivery (Final Clue):

  • Clue 3 (The Murder Weapon):
    • The murder weapon is found hidden in a drawer in Reginald’s study. It’s a rare antique letter opener, and it has a set of fingerprints on it — the fingerprints belong to Olivia.

Facilitator’s Note: The final clue creates a dramatic twist. The players now have a clear lead toward solving the mystery.

7. Conclusion: The Big Reveal

  • Time: 9:00 PM – 9:15 PM

Facilitator’s Script:

  • “After carefully reviewing the clues, it’s time to reveal the truth. The murderer is Olivia Worthington. She was hiding her financial motives behind a mask of grief. She was planning to inherit everything, but when Reginald threatened to cut her out and reveal secrets about their finances, she decided to act. The murder weapon, the antique letter opener, was hidden in the study — a final act of desperation.”

8. Award Ceremony & Event Close

  • Time: 9:30 PM – 9:45 PM

Facilitator’s Script:

  • “Congratulations to all of you for your brilliant detective work! We’ll now announce the winning team, who was able to piece together the mystery the quickest and most accurately.”

Closing Remarks:

  • “Thank you all for participating in this mystery dinner. We hope you had fun, solved some puzzles, and built stronger connections with your teams. Have a great evening!”
