Position Overview:

The Career Development Coach plays a key role in supporting participants as they work towards achieving their career goals. The coach provides guidance, feedback, and actionable steps to help individuals navigate their professional journeys. In addition to one-on-one coaching and group sessions, the Career Development Coach is also responsible for developing and updating training content that aligns with current job market trends and career development best practices. The coach works collaboratively with the SayPro Courses and Training Services Office to ensure that all training materials are relevant, effective, and meet the evolving needs of participants.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Career Coaching and Counseling:

  • Job Market Insights and Career Guidance:
    • Offer advice on job market trends, industry shifts, and career opportunities, ensuring that participants are equipped with the knowledge they need to navigate their careers successfully.
    • Guide participants in setting clear, achievable career goals and help them identify actionable steps to move forward.
    • Offer personalized support for career transitions, job searches, and strategies for advancing in their current careers.
  • Soft Skills Coaching:
    • Help participants develop essential soft skills such as communication, leadership, time management, and emotional intelligence.
    • Provide strategies for enhancing interpersonal relationships and fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.

2. Content Development for Training Modules:

  • Ensure Content Relevance and Currency:
    • Collaborate with the SayPro Courses and Training Services Office to develop and update training materials that reflect the latest trends in career development.
    • Regularly review industry standards and job market shifts to ensure training content is up-to-date and aligned with participant needs.
    • Focus on creating training modules that address key career development topics such as job readiness, personal branding, career planning, and soft skills enhancement.
  • Incorporate Feedback into Content Updates:
    • Collect feedback from participants, peers, and industry experts to continually improve training materials and ensure they are both effective and relevant.
    • Adjust content based on feedback and the evolving needs of the job market to provide participants with the best tools and resources.
  • Design Engaging Learning Materials:
    • Develop various formats of training content, including video tutorials, workbooks, and interactive e-learning modules, ensuring that materials are engaging and effective.
    • Ensure that all training materials are accessible to diverse learners, using inclusive language and providing clear, actionable instructions.

3. Resume and Job Search Support:

  • Resume Writing and Tailoring:
    • Help participants craft and refine their resumes, focusing on clear, concise, and compelling descriptions of their skills and experiences.
    • Provide tailored advice on how to customize resumes for different roles, industries, and job markets.
  • Job Search Strategy and Networking:
    • Assist participants in developing a strategic approach to their job search, including leveraging networking opportunities and utilizing job boards effectively.
    • Provide guidance on how to conduct informational interviews, use LinkedIn, and build a professional online presence.

4. Interview Preparation:

  • Mock Interviews and Coaching:
    • Conduct mock interviews with participants to simulate real-world interview scenarios, providing constructive feedback on how they can improve their responses and overall interview performance.
    • Teach participants how to communicate their experiences, qualifications, and career aspirations confidently during interviews.
  • Interview Strategy Development:
    • Help participants prepare for different types of interviews, including behavioral, technical, and panel interviews, by coaching them on how to answer specific questions effectively.
    • Provide advice on researching companies and understanding job descriptions to prepare for interviews with a tailored approach.

5. Personal Branding and Online Presence:

  • Developing Personal Brand:
    • Assist participants in building and strengthening their personal brand, helping them communicate their unique value proposition and skills to potential employers.
    • Provide guidance on creating an effective LinkedIn profile and establishing an online presence that highlights their expertise.
  • Social Media and Networking Strategy:
    • Advise participants on how to leverage social media platforms to connect with industry professionals, share thought leadership, and build meaningful relationships that can support their career growth.

6. Continuous Support and Feedback:

  • Regular Progress Check-ins:
    • Provide ongoing support to participants by scheduling regular follow-up sessions to monitor progress, adjust career plans, and address new challenges.
    • Help participants stay motivated and on track toward achieving their career goals, offering constructive feedback and encouragement along the way.
  • Resource Sharing:
    • Share relevant resources, such as articles, workshops, networking events, or online courses, to enhance participants’ skills and knowledge.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in career development to ensure participants receive up-to-date information and advice.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in career coaching, counseling, training, or a related field, with expertise in resume writing, job search strategies, and interview coaching.
    • Experience in developing and delivering training content, particularly in areas related to job readiness, personal branding, and soft skills.
  • Certifications:
    • Career coaching certification (e.g., Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC), International Coach Federation (ICF), or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver training and coaching to diverse audiences.
    • Experience in developing training materials, particularly focused on career development, job readiness, and soft skills.
    • Strong knowledge of current job market trends, industry demands, and the evolving needs of job seekers.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to develop high-quality, relevant training content.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position (Remote or On-Site, depending on location).
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends based on participant availability and program needs.
