Position Overview:
The Career Development Coach will play a pivotal role in guiding participants through their professional journeys, helping them achieve their career goals by offering actionable advice, feedback, and practical strategies. This role involves not only one-on-one and group coaching but also contributing to the development of training content that supports job readiness, personal branding, career planning, and soft skills development. The coach will collaborate with the SayPro Courses and Training Services Office to ensure the training materials are aligned with industry trends and relevant to participants’ needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Career Coaching and Counseling:
- Job Readiness and Career Guidance:
- Provide tailored coaching to participants, helping them understand job market trends, craft resumes, prepare for interviews, and build a successful career path.
- Offer strategic advice on career transitions, job searches, and how to successfully position themselves in the market.
- Work with participants to identify strengths, assess weaknesses, and help them align their professional goals with their personal values and interests.
- Soft Skills Development:
- Coach participants on key soft skills like communication, leadership, time management, and emotional intelligence, which are critical to professional success.
- Assist participants in developing their interpersonal skills, ensuring they are prepared for the demands of the workplace and can effectively work in teams.
2. Content Development for Training Modules:
- Collaborate with SayPro Training Services:
- Work closely with the SayPro Courses and Training Services Office to design, develop, and update training content that aligns with current job market needs.
- Focus on creating engaging and relevant training materials that equip participants with essential job readiness skills, including resume writing, interview preparation, personal branding, and networking strategies.
- Develop soft skills training modules that enhance communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities in the workplace.
- Training Program Design:
- Design and implement a variety of learning formats, such as workshops, webinars, e-learning, and in-person training sessions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to skill development.
- Ensure that all content is accessible, actionable, and aligned with the learning objectives for the participants.
- Monitor and Update Content:
- Regularly review and update training materials to ensure they reflect the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in career development.
- Collect feedback from participants to continuously improve the content and training methods, ensuring the highest standards of quality and relevance.
3. Resume and Job Search Support:
- Resume and Cover Letter Coaching:
- Help participants craft strong, tailored resumes and cover letters that effectively highlight their skills and experiences for specific job opportunities.
- Provide feedback on formatting, content, and language to ensure resumes stand out in a competitive job market.
- Job Search Strategy and Networking:
- Provide coaching on job search techniques, including how to use job boards, leverage LinkedIn, and tap into personal and professional networks.
- Guide participants in setting actionable job search goals and developing strategies to maximize their chances of landing interviews and job offers.
4. Interview Preparation:
- Mock Interviews and Feedback:
- Conduct mock interviews to help participants practice responses to common and industry-specific interview questions.
- Offer constructive feedback on participants’ performance, helping them refine their answers, body language, and overall interview presentation.
- Interview Strategy Coaching:
- Teach participants how to handle various interview formats, such as phone, video, or in-person interviews, ensuring they are prepared for any scenario.
- Guide participants on how to research companies, understand job roles, and effectively express their motivations and qualifications during interviews.
5. Personal Branding and Online Presence:
- Building a Personal Brand:
- Help participants develop their personal brand by coaching them on how to effectively represent themselves online and offline, especially on platforms like LinkedIn.
- Offer strategies for creating compelling profiles that reflect their professional skills, experiences, and unique selling points.
- Social Media and Online Networking:
- Provide advice on how to use social media platforms and networking events to build professional relationships and enhance career visibility.
- Encourage participants to take a proactive approach to online networking by participating in industry-related discussions and connecting with key professionals.
6. Continuous Support and Feedback:
- Regular Progress Check-ins:
- Conduct periodic follow-up sessions with participants to review their progress, offer feedback, and address any new challenges they may be facing.
- Help participants remain focused on their goals, holding them accountable and providing ongoing support throughout their career development journey.
- Resource Sharing:
- Provide participants with additional resources, such as career development articles, job search tools, or educational opportunities, to further their professional growth.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and share relevant articles, webinars, and networking events that can help participants stay competitive in the job market.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in career coaching, counseling, training, or a related field, ideally with experience in resume writing, job search techniques, and interview coaching.
- Experience in developing and delivering training content, particularly around job readiness, personal branding, and soft skills development.
- Certifications:
- Career coaching certification (e.g., Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC), International Coach Federation (ICF), or equivalent) is a plus.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver training and coaching to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for content development and delivery (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, e-learning software, LinkedIn).
- Ability to develop and update career development materials and training content that align with job market trends.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback, motivate individuals, and foster an environment of growth and empowerment.
Working Conditions:
