Objective:

To assess learnersโ€™ understanding of tool safety, condition monitoring, and maintenance procedures by requiring the completion and submission of two tool inspection reports as part of SayProโ€™s practical evaluation process.


Task Description:

  • Requirement: Submit 2 detailed tool inspection reports
  • Purpose: Demonstrate your ability to:
    • Inspect tools for wear, damage, or defects
    • Record findings accurately
    • Recommend necessary maintenance or replacement actions
  • Deadline: January 31st
  • Format: Use the SayPro Tool Inspection Report Template (available on the SayPro LMS or provided by your facilitator)

What to Include in Each Report:

  1. Tool Information
    • Name of the tool
    • Tool type/category (e.g., hand tool, power tool)
    • Serial number (if available)
    • Date of inspection
  2. Condition Checklist
    • Handle and grip condition
    • Blades, bits, or moving parts (sharpness, alignment, etc.)
    • Electrical cords (for power tools)
    • Lubrication and cleanliness
    • Safety features (guards, switches)
  3. Inspection Findings
    • Notes on any signs of wear, damage, or malfunction
    • Whether the tool is safe to use, needs repair, or should be replaced
  4. Photographic Evidence
    • Include clear photos of the tool inspected (optional but recommended)
  5. Inspector Information
    • Learner name and ID
    • Trade area (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, electrical)
    • Signature and date

Submission Instructions:

  • Upload your two completed reports via the SayPro LMS Practical Assessment Portal under the section titled โ€œJanuary Practical Submissionsโ€.
  • Accepted file formats: PDF, Word Document, or scanned handwritten forms (legible)
  • File name format: ToolInspection_[YourName]_1.pdf and ToolInspection_[YourName]_2.pdf

  • Completeness and accuracy of inspection data
  • Relevance to your registered trade
  • Use of correct format and terminology
  • Clear recommendations and logical reasoning
  • Submission by the January deadline
